When I was in Beaudoux, France. We walked down the 2 mile long stretch of market that lead strait to a plaza. As we were walking I saw this huge Arch, and knew that there would be some good photos once we got there. As we got closer I noticed a pillar kind of structure framed by the arch. Unable to get a good shot of the framing, I gave up and walked to the pillar, expecting to see a normal one. Once I got there I realized that it wasn’t a normal slab of granite, this one was twisting as it rose up to meet the bright blue sky.

I love this shot; the way the lines sway your eyes gently upward only to be met with that gorgeous blue sky. I particularly like the composition; the initially perceived symmetry, then the realization that the tower is actually twisted.
"Advanced Critique Encouraged..." For having an f/stop of 2.8 it sure seems you have a pretty large depth of field. Did you sharpen in Photoshop? Also, it seems as if you may have cropped the photo so as to center the tower. Perhaps cropped out some of the photo on the right side? (Is that a wee bit of vignetting I see in the left corners?) Congratulations on a beautiful photo, my favorite in Architecture! |
